Over the coming months, Dawn Bowden AM and I will be working on a new project looking at how we can improve jobs, skills and the local economy in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney.

Dawn and I launched the project at the Rhymney jobs fair in April, which was a great success with over 120 people through the doors and more than 30 local organisations and businesses attending.

During the next few months, we will look to work more and more with local businesses, organisations and training providers about how we can develop our economy and improve the opportunities available to local people.

After the Rhymney jobs fair, we visited the new Victoria House Café – it was great to see the business up and running, and I wish Lisa and the team the best of luck with their new venture.

How to get involved

To help kick off the discussion on how we can improve our local economy, jobs and skills, Dawn and I have produced a report looking at the current situation in the area. Please click here to read the report.

If you’d like to host a visit to your business or organisation from me and Dawn, or to share your ideas with us, please do get in touch.

Our work on the project will continue up until autumn this year, so there’s plenty of time to get involved!
