Gerald Jones, MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, showed his support for Ty Hafan, Hope House  and Ty Gobaith at an event in Parliament to celebrate Children’s Hospice Week on Tuesday 18 June. Children’s Hospice Week (17-23 June) is the only week in the year dedicated to raising awareness and funds for all 54 children’s hospice services across the UK, and the thousands of seriously ill children and young people that they support.

Children’s hospice charities play a vital role in helping these families stay afloat, giving them a break from caring responsibilities, providing specialist clinical care and providing a range of practical and emotional support for all the family.

The event was held by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Children Who Need Palliative Care in partnership with Together for Short Lives, the UK children’s palliative care charity.

Children’s Hospice Week gives us a chance to celebrate the vital work these services do and the pressure they take off the NHS – and make sure that seriously children, families and health professionals are aware of the lifeline support children’s hospices can offer.”
