Gerald Jones, MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney, met with the Royal British Legion’s Wales branch at an event in Parliament today to discuss what more can be done to support the Armed Forces community in Wales.

At the event, Welsh MPs heard from Chris Heaton, a Welsh Armed Forces veteran, about he has benefitted from the vital support the Legion offers, and how he continues to play an active role within the Legion.

Gerald also met with the Legion’s Wales Area Manager, Antony Metcalfe, who said: “I was delighted to see Gerald Jones at our event today, and we were grateful that he took the time to drop in. The Royal British Legion offers a range of support all year round, to the whole Armed Forces community, past and present.

This event offered a great opportunity for us to spread the word about the range of services we provide in Wales, and for Gerald to hear first-hand from people who we’ve helped how we have supported them since they left the Armed Forces. I look forward to working together with Gerald in future.”

Gerald Jones MP said: “It was great to see the Royal British Legion in Parliament today, and hear from staff and veterans about the vital role of the Legion in providing care and support to Armed Forces veterans and personnel across Wales. I and colleagues are committed to continue working with the Legion, in support of our Service men and women.
