This week Gerald Jones MP and Dawn Bowden AM continued their push for more free-to-use ATMs in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney with a meeting with a representative from Link, the operator of the UK’s network of cash machines.

Following the closure of Lloyds Bank in Rhymney earlier this year, many residents were left with few free ATMs available, facing a charge of up to £2.00 to withdraw cash.

Many local people still rely on cash to pay for everyday expenses, and Gerald Jones and Dawn Bowden secured a commitment from Link to provide subsidies for free machines at locations across the constituency, so people can access their cash easily and without a charge.

People should not have to pay to access their cash, and Gerald and Dawn are continuing to work with Link to explore options for free ATMs, so that residents across the area can withdraw money without having to make long and difficult journeys or paying a charge.
