“COMMUNITY STARS” SCHEME LAUNCHED BY LOCAL MP AND AM

Local politicians Gerald Jones MP and Dawn Bowden AM have announced a new award scheme called “Community Stars” in order to help highlight the positive action being taken by local groups and so many individuals across their Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney constituency.

Gerald Jones MP said “Community stars” will receive a certificate in recognition of the important work they undertake to help make our communities a better place to live, through the help they offer to other people or by raising the profile of our area. So each and every month we want to play our role in promoting the positive work that is happening right across local communities”.

Dawn Bowden AM added “After the disappointment expressed at the “Valleys Cops” TV show we said that we would react in a positive way to highlight the positives and to help make sure that people know more about the good things happening in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney. “Community Stars” is one small way of giving some recognition to the hard work of many local groups. There are many good news stories and we will be proud to highlight them”.

Community Stars” will be a monthly award by Gerald Jones MP and Dawn Bowden AM given for the work of local groups, volunteers or by individuals who have highlighted the many positive things happening in the area.

The first awards will be made before Christmas and nominations can be made by anyone by writing to their respective constituency offices marking their letter “Community Stars”. Nominations for the first award(s) are invited by December 9th 2017.
