Gerald Jones MP and Dawn Bowden AM were recently shown around the Royal Mail sorting office in Merthyr Tydfil by Delivery Office Manager, Mark Wright.

Christmas is the busiest time of year for Royal Mail staff with millions of people doing their shopping online and sending Christmas cards and presents across the country.

Royal Mail staff are once again pulling out all the stops to ensure that letters and parcels safety reach their destination.

Speaking after the visit, Gerald Jones MP said:

“Postal workers provide a crucial service – one we rely on so much around the Christmas period.

“The visit was a really good opportunity to visit the sorting office to personally thank the staff who were working tirelessly to sort and organise the post ready for delivery.”

Dawn Bowden AM said:

“It was great to see the Royal Mail team hard at work and marvel at the detailed local knowledge which gets our Christmas post delivered. As the worst of the winter weather arrives they will be showing great commitment to keep our postal service moving”.

Gerald and Dawn will also be visiting Prince Charles Hospital to thank staff for their hard work and dedication. They will be visiting the Emergency Care Centre and Paediatric units with Chief Executive, Allison Williams and Professor Marcus Longley, Chair of Cwm Taf University Health Board.
