Educational Visits to the UK Parliament
As the MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare, I’ve been able to welcome pupils from schools from across our area to Parliament, on visits organised through the Parliamentary Education Service.
Local students can enjoy a unique learning experience at the UK Parliament’s education centre and book one of the free, curricula-linked interactive tours and workshops. Educational visits are open to primary and secondary schools, and colleges.
Visits include a tour of the Palace of Westminster and an engaging curriculum-informed workshop in Parliament’s dedicated education centre.
Parliament offers help with travel costs to and from London, and I also make a personal contribution to help make educational visits even more accessible.
How to visit
Visits take place during term time, and applications for each term close around three months before the start of the term, although short notice bookings may also be available.
Applications are incredibly popular and processed on a first-come, first-served basis. My experienced constituency team will be able to offer you advice and support in securing an educational visit to the UK Parliament.
You will need to confirm your group size including number of adults and students. The minimum group size is 12 people, including adults. Tours and workshops have a maximum capacity of 36, including adults. If you’re bringing more than 36 people, you will need to book multiple timeslots.
The ratio of adults to pupils depends on student age:
age 5-7: 1 adult to 7 pupils
age 7-18: 1 adult to 15 pupils
