This privacy policy aims to give you information on how we collect and process your personal data through:

  • Your use of this website (including, but not limited to, any data you may provide through this website by, for example, signing up to receive communications on Gerald Jones MP’s parliamentary and constituency activities.
  • Casework

This website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children.

It is important that you read this privacy policy, together with any other privacy policy or fair processing policy we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal data about you. We want you to be fully aware of how and why we are using your data.

This privacy policy supplements other notices and privacy policies (such as wording that may feature on our website alongside options to subscribe to newsletters and other communications) and is not intended to override them.

The office of Gerald Jones MP will only collect and use personal information for the specific purpose for which it has been obtained.

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Names, address, telephone number and email addresses of individuals who submit this information in the “Newsletter Sign Up” section of our website: https://www.geraldjones.co.uk/newsletter-sign-up/ to receive emails from Gerald Jones MP to receive news and updates about his Parliamentary and constituency work.
  • For casework: name, address, telephone number and email addresses of individuals seeking assistance with casework. Depending on the particular case, we may also require information such as National Insurance Number, date of birth, or other specific information.

5. How we obtained your personal information and why we hold it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

Provided by you – directly

  • Because you have submitted information through the ‘Newsletter Sign Up” section of the website to receive emails from Gerald Jones MP to receive news and updates about his Parliamentary and constituency work.
  • Because you have casework.

Provided by you – indirectly

  • Your name and address is legally taken from the electoral register, in order for us to participate in the democratic process;
  • As you interact with our website, we will automatically collect technical data about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns – where this is strictly necessary to enable the delivery of the website to you, then these cookies will be downloaded automatically. We collect this personal data by using cookies and other similar technologies. We may also receive technical data about you if you visit other websites employing our cookies. You will have the option of declining cookies which are not strictly necessary for the delivery of the website if you do not wish to provide this kind of data to us.

  2. Legal entitlement. MPs have a legal entitlement to your name and address from the electoral register, even where you have asked not to be contacted.
  3. Public task. This may be used where we process personal data in the public interest (which has a clear basis in law).
  4. Legitimate interests. We may contact you by post using this lawful basis, but we always ensure we balance your rights and freedoms against our proposed legitimate interest.

 7. How we store and retain your personal information

Your information is securely stored at the Office of Gerald Jones MP, Oldway House, Castle Street, Merthyr Tydfil CF47 8UX.

Information submitted on the ‘ Newsletter Sign Up’ form on www.geraldjones.co.uk are securely stored electronically on caseworker.mp and in my constituency office.

We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy.

As casework can often be complicated and reoccur, I retain this information for as long as I hold office as Member of Parliament.

We will regularly review the personal information we hold to ensure that its use is necessary and proportionate.

We will then securely and permanently delete and dispose of your information.
