GERALD JONES MP PLEDGES HIS SUPPORT TO CONSUMER CHAMPION CAMPAIGN, KEEP ME POSTED

Gerald Jones MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney recently met Judith Donovan CBE, Chair of the consumer rights campaign, Keep Me Posted, in Parliament, to discuss the campaign and the importance of consumer choice.

Keep Me Posted campaigns for consumers to have the right to choose, without disadvantage, how they are contacted by banks, utility companies and other service providers. The Keep Me Posted campaign has introduced the Keep Me Posted “Mark of Distinction” which has been awarded to over thirty service providers who offer consumers the ability to choose paper statements and bills without being charged for the privilege.

Gerald Jones MP for Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney praised the Keep Me Posted campaign’s efforts:

The Keep Me Posted Campaign’s findings demonstrate that consumers manage their financial affairs more effectively when they receive bills in paper format, particularly those who live in rural communities and those who are considered vulnerable such as people living with disabilities or in poverty. I support the consumer’s right to choose.

Judith Donovan CBE, Chair of the Keep Me Posted campaign, said:

“Since the launch of Keep Me Posted four years ago, over 100 organisations have pledged their support in ensuring that consumers retain the right to receive paper statements without penalties.

We really appreciate the support of Gerald which takes us one step closer to making sure that the people of Merthyr Tydfil and Rhymney have the right to choose.”
